Using 2 GPUs?

slanensis

So, I recently bought a very good GPU (MSi r9 380 4G), and my old card (7770 GHz edition). I want ot use my old GPU for doing other things that will probably stay on load for a few hours per day. To recap, 2 GPUs that cant CrossfireX, used for different tasks in a pc. Any replies are appreciated.

You can totally do that. For folding and such I guess?

Why would you do this? Your R9 380 is way more power-efficient when it's idle (pretty sure) and even if your 7770 could run some tasks (i.e. windows homescreen), it wouldn't be any more power efficient as your PSU powers both GPU's anyway.

Yeah. Especially ethereum mining.

Well yes. As long as your driver supports both GPUs and the software you're using gives you the option to use your 7770 it's alright.

Ooo. In most mining and folding programs you can choose which GPU you want to use. Just make sure you don't run your games on the same GPU :D
