Ok so I want to build myself a decent gaming rig, I know that unless I save for another few months, I won't be able to afford the 1070 or 1080. But, what I AM wondering is if the 980ti and 970 prices will drop. I have looked at past generations and stuff like the 780ti and such are still just as expensive as their newer counterparts. I was wondering if a price drop would happen, and if it would be significant enough to make a difference. Thank.

You aren't getting price drops. At max, you'll get a nice deal on a used card from someone that's upgrading, but that's it.

Still, saving for another few months isn't a bad idea. By then, Polaris will be out.

Polaris is said to come near the end of this month.

In terms of un-used components, there won't be much of a price drop, as for used components however, the prices will likely fall a little bit with the rush of people trying to upgrade to the newest cards.

I'm even considering selling off my 970 for a 1080, although I might as well just stick with my 970 until the 11xx line comes out next year because it's not likely I'll be able to upgrade my monitor setup very much if at all this year.

He can only get you those deals if you have a yellow dot on your mailbox and if you have a blue or red dot, stop talking to him. :P
