CPU Overclocking problem, need BIOS help.

Hiho,

 

I own GA-Z87X OC FORCE motherboard and I managed to get my CPU to 5.1Ghz today. However... When I open CPU-Z the voltage is not lowering. It stays at 1.340V all the time.

Idle temps are 40-45 occasionally and temps are way too high (about 75-83 degrees), and temps when it comes to 4,8Ghz are the same. I know that Linus managed to OC 4790K to 4.8Ghz on 1.3V and he was only getting 65 degrees under full load, whereas I'm getting 75-83. What do I have to do to lower those temps? Cooler and thermal paste are top notch, I have H115i and Grizzly Kyronaut Thermal Paste.

You need to change cpu clock ratio, set cpu base clock to 100mhz and then change cpu core voltage

I did exactly that, and yet something is wrong.

The temps? You cannot expect less temperatures at 4.8GHz and 1.3V

well not all chips are made equal and yours might overclock differently so you can't expect to get the same results as linus

did you start with the factory settings or try to get the same one as linus right off the bat

I achieve 4.8Ghz with less voltage than Linus. Lower voltage = lower temps. I have a better cooler also, and CPU cooler than the one from the video. Also, my chip is really good, therefore something is not right.

I restarted and tested stock, been getting just 50 degrees in a quite hot room under full load.

well the 4790k is i very hot running chip but you are right maybe there is something wrong with your cooler

4.6Ghz runs at 60 degrees so yeah...

so is your cooler working or did it not make good contact and does that cooler have a sticker to protect it from scratches in shipping that was not removed

It does excellent work. I bought it less than a month ago. I just explained that the CPU crams same amount of voltage to the CPU and I simply asked how to change that... Asking about my cooler isn't even related to the question.
