Different sized HDD raid 1

Hi everyone, I am new here.

I have a 2TB hard drive and a 4TB hard drive, I want to use the 2TB hard drive in a raid 1 with half the 4TB drive. Can someone help me understand how I can achieve this?

Partition the 4tb drive into 2 2tb drives.

If your feeling brave you can use btrfs to have some files only on the 4tb and some in raid 1 as you can set the raid level on a file or folder level.

I get the partition, but how do I arrange the raid 1 for the partition only?

I have heard more than seen butter fs being used to arrange raid setups in some of the LTT videos, why "brave"? If this works out I might consider using a similar partition to raid 1 my boot drive (but probably not).

I said brave as its a new feature thats realitivly untested. It will probably work fine, but i would use it on my servers. You also have to be using linux, and there not gui, so you have to read man pages and hope it works. Id give it a go in a vm with 2 virtualized drives of different sizes just so i know i can do it.
