Xubuntu Wireless Driver Problems!! Need help!!

So every time I try installing the Broadcom proprietary drivers my laptop needs to use its wireless adapter in Xubuntu, it fails. It downloads the update and installs it, but immediately after that it gives me this screen:

Once I reboot, instead of the computer telling me that the adapter requires firmware, it acts as if there is no wireless adapter at all, and this only happens after I try installing the proprietary driver. Have tried twice with no luck. Would love some help!
