In preparation for pascal, this is what I want. Cheapest way to get 4 cores and 8 threads for enough money where I can get the 970 Pascal equivalent and stay under $1000USD. I'm keeping my HyperX DDR3 Blue RAM from my past build. Until Pascal / Polaris are released, I'll be using my GTX 750Ti. My computer budget is $1000 or less, not including monitor. I'm keeping my speakers, keyboard, and mouse from my past build. With a 1070 or whatever it's called, I'm assuming it'll be less than $380-370 USD, and keep my overall budget under $1000.

i went with the Carbide 400C because it's smaller than the 230T I currently have, has a nice huge side window for when I get a Hue+, and comes in at under a $100USD by itself. Please give any thoughts on parts for me :) except CPU, I don't really need to push into CPU overclocking yet, but I definitely will do some GPU OC'ing. 4 cores 8 threads is all I need for video recording and the like. As well, I'll probably get w PCIE wireless card.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

Pricey mobo, and over the top CPU cooler.

Personally I'd drop the cooler and swap the SSD to a 250GB 50 EVO, or go for a cheaper mobo like ASRock's H97 Anniversary.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

He wants it to be $1000 INCLUDING the Pascal GPU, which we assume the price point for.

Never used ASRock, is their quality good? Features? Have heard both good and bad about them.

What kinda CPU cooler? Stock? I want to at least pick up an aftermarket one :P for comfy temps

There you go:

..but you gonna have to get some 30$

That's a good build for stuff like gaming only, but I'm looking for 4 cores 8 threads, since I'm doing more workstation-y stuff as well as multitasking for things like recording games, streaming, etc. I'm also somewhat of a novice when it comes to CPU overclocking, and would rather have the reliability of an air cooler so this system can last a little longer. Haven't dealt a lot with liquid cooling, but have done a little. The Xeon is good for my needs :) and it's the price of an i5.

I mean, that stock cooler is DESIGNED for that CPU, and it is locked, so....

as for ASRock, I have found nothing wrong with them.

I guess part of me just wants something that looks nicer than stock xD and considering an H7, 212X, or even a Pure Rock are like <$35, I don't see why not :P
