Hey guys. A year ago my parents bought an all-in-one pc that I've used for gaming but over the course of the year, I've realised its performance has been decreasing by the minute. An example of this is that I have been able to play CS:GO in the past on max settings, AA off, at a solid 60FPS, however now I can't maintain 60FPS on 720p with lowest settings which concerns me quite a bit. I was inspired by a couple YouTube videos and articles talking about external GPUs and how this is possible on a laptop and I was wondering, would it be possible and worth the time to do it on a all-in-one. I'll leave my specs below but I'd appreciate anyone out there that can help me out with this, especially if someone has experience with all-in-ones too.

Processor - Intel Core i7-4785t CPU @ 2.2GHz

Video Card 1 - Intel HD Graphics

Video Card 2 - NVIDIA GeForce 840A

Operating System - Windows 10 (64 bit)

If you can get solid 60FPS before but can't now, something is wrong with your system. You should fix that before investing in external GPUs.

Have you tried cleaning the dust off your PC internals?

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

How would I go about doing this? I've seen a couple articles about using how cleaning the dust can increase performance but I've never looked any deeper than the title. Thank you for the reply.

No problem.

I would need to know what kind of PC you are using to give any advice as to how to take it apart.

Some links and pictures would be helpful.

Essentially it's this: http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/desktops/ideacentre/aio-700/aio-700-27/?sb=:000001D4:000522F8:#SYSTEM The only differences are that the parts are different, my build contains a Real Sense camera and the 3 panels along the bottom side of the monitor are one large speaker. Thanks again for the reply.

Got it.

This is their support page: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Desktops-and-all-in-ones/IdeaCentre-A-Series-all-in-ones/IdeaCentre-A700?tabName=Documentation&linkTrack=Mast:SubNav:Support:Documentation|Documentation&beta=false

This is their hardware maintenance manual: https://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/UserGuide/en/User's%20guides%20and%20manuals/A700/Lenovo%20IdeaCentre%20A700%20Hardware%20Maintenance%20Manual.pdf

Follow chapter 8 of this manual to properly open up the computer. Hope this helps. :D

Thank you for this! Just wondering, from the manual can you see if I can upgrade the GPU? I'm pretty sure my PC uses a laptop style GPU and I've heard these are un-upgradable.

Well, components from All-in-One PCs are generally not replace-able, but reading from the manual, this Lenovo AIO has a surprising number of components that can be replaced.

Unfortunately though, both the CPU and GPU are soldered onto the motherboard. :|
