1080p 60fps single monitor gaming. Want to run games like the division, the witcher, etc, around medium settings. Budget hopefully under $900 CAD including tax and shipping.

With tax and stuff it might be over budget but what are your thoughts on this build?

Also, if you can, get a K sku cpu, overclocking is fun

Is it worth spending that much more to overclock? Will the cpu i listed preform well enough without overclocking?

It will certainly perform well enough, but overclocking can be fun and when your system gets old it can provide a decent boost in performance. however, @don_svetlio is correct, you would need a better motherboard.

Its automatic, just press this button!

OCing is not needed, it won't change the way games run as your CPU is not the limiting factor.

8 gb is plenty and get something like crucial ballistic X or something like that, just better ram because the current ram you have in the build is not the best and you don't need 16gbs of ram. And for the PSU, it is garbage get a better one trust me.

Doesnt really seem worth it. 250gb is nothing. I'll just add in an ssd later on.

120GB SSD for 50$ from PNY or Sandisk + 1TB WD Blue is the best thing to do

If you do that then you have to transfer and reinstall windows onto the new SSD.  Getting an SSD first and a HDD later is the better option unless you have tons of files that were you will need more then 240/56Gb of storage right away

Yea thats what i would probably do later on. Would i be fine to just use an hdd for a couple months?

Yes, though you'd have to reinstall windows. I am using a 250GB SSD as my daily driver in the Y50 and trust me, it's more than enough for gaming and work.

Is there a difference between 1x8gb and 2x4gb of ram? And is there a cheaper psu that's something like 500w or doesnt matter?

Wattage is irrelevant - as long as it's good quality.

RAM modules don't make a difference when purely gaming
