I am trying to make a website for my Twitch, YouTube, blog, etc. I am fine with hosting since I do have some extra hardware laying around that could work. Nothing servergrade but if I wanted to do that I think I would buy some old LGA 771 boards and get rolling. I do like the simplicity of squarespace but I had heard that Wordpress was free. I have some minor experience with JavaScript so I think I t wouldn't be too bad building it myself. I'll probably refresh myself by heading over to codecadamy to breeze through a course. Any thoughts?

I think you're mixing up sponsors.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

But does Wix let you actually write code? Also, I'd prefer my site not to have an annoying "Wix" logo on the side

Squarespace...Build it Beautiful.

haha, well, it seems on the technical side, you're good.  However, think long term.  Fortunately, squarespaces pricing model isn't so pricey, that it'll kill you if you use it, so, its recommended you do that, as said before, build it beautifully.  But, if you dont think you'll have anyone checking out your website for the forseeable future, theres no point sinking money into it now, especially if you are on a budget.  Work with wordpress for now, see what works, what doesn't.  See if anyone will even bother using your website.  If you notice almost no one using it, perhaps its not worth it, until you get a higher number of followers and such.

The only thing you should get asap is your domain name, as that is more key than the website itself.  So, in general, if you have cash laying around, and dont want to work hard to get something looking good working, go with squarespace.  If your limited in budget, lots of time, and like tweaking things in general, with no one currently following you atm, use wordpress.

I currently use squarespace myself.  I tried working with wordpress for a while, but gave up.  It got annoying trying to do things the way i like it, but its the same with squarespace.  Its just squarespace, even if it doesnt come out the way you like it, it still looks half decent, xD
