Hello!

I currently have a Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming OC edition 980ti. I would like to know if someone can tell me if there is a maximum on this card for OC or recommend

me a maximum.  (when i click on the OC mode button)

Also, do i need to plug the extra 6 pin connector (the one that is next to the OC button) to OC?

Thx

Overclocking a gpu is like a cpu. I just found a video of my card of someone who Oc'd his and I went to similar clock and vram speeds until I could find something stable on my card since all cards will be a little different. I can't speak for that card, though, on numbers as I don't own a 980ti.

You can't just recommend a maximum as it depends, Ambient temperature, PC case and fan quantity, components blocking airflow.

For OCing you should test it, slowly clock it up then do a burn test to see what's the highest temperature you are getting.

I'm not sure about Gigabyte, but my EVGA 980ti has software that allows me to overclock while setting a target temperature.

Obviously there is a maximum. Unfortunately, you'll have to find out what it is for yourself, we can't really help you there.

No. It's only for folks that will push the card to it's limits.
