Hey everyone,

So my gaming "rig" is a MSI Leopard GP70, and through days and days of tweaking and modifying the shitty little nvidia geForce 840m, im able to play pretty demanding games, however im only getting around 30-35 fps on high to ultra settings for Crysis 3. For a laptop, that's pretty respectable, HOWEVER, when is "Just alright" enough for PC gamers???? I want more!

So i wanted to ask all of you about your thoughts on external GPU's and compatibility with laptops.

Pros to them?

Cons  to them?

Ive been looking up external GPU's but cannot get any definitive information about them. (idk, maybe im just not looking hard enough)

Any information or sites that will help me make a decision would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks eveyone!!!

Setting up an external GPU can be very tricky. For the money you would have in it, you could build a decent gaming desktop. If your laptop had Thunderbolt 3, there are some enclosures coming out this year that make it easy, but unfortunately your laptop does not support Thunderbolt 3.

Yea.

From what ive been hearing, the external GPU's are super expensive, so i do agree with the idea of building an entire new machine.

I have a parts list for it costing 900 US dollars.

Thanks for the insight!
