DAC/AMP Recommendations

eddieceidde

Looking for a compact usb dac/amp for my laptop.

Considering the FiiO E10K USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier or the NuForce uDAC3.

Any recommendations for other DAC/AMP for around $70USD?

I have some cheap combos in my topic about dacs and amps linked in my signature. ( prices are not accurate)

If they are to expensive I would get the E10k.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Yeah, but laptops usually have bad onboard.

If he can use onboard then he should use it.

Onboard audio sucks, I wouldn't be asking if I don't need it.

So No to NuForce.

I have not tried the NuForce yet and I have not looked anything up about it, that is really the reason why I pick the E10k over it.

it seems like it has some problem and is not that good according to him.

NuForce argues their design is “better engineered”, but when a $29 Behringer DAC outperforms it in nearly every area, I have a hard time accepting that. Personally, I don’t see any reason to buy a uDAC-2 given its flaws and I’m going to return mine for a refund. But, ultimately, everyone has to decide what’s best for them.

Laptop onboard is pretty crappy.  I can hear the noise floor on my Razer Blade at 20 volume with my IM02's.  Lot of manufacturers also forget to turn off the software tweaks to make laptop speakers sound better when you switch to headphones.

Fiio E10k or Schiit Fulla.  Fiio if you want more features and made in China, Fulla if you want barebones and 'Murica.

That Nuforce dac is pretty cute and small, and nice wheel compared to e10k

Though yeah, acording to that review it doesnt look so good.
