All programs changed their compatibility!

the compatibility mode for all my programs have changed and most of them dont work, the ones that do are extremely slow, most of them wont let me switch it back to windows 7.
for example: internet explorer-    right click>properties>compatibility    windows server 2008 (service pack 1)

how do i fix this? they should all be windows 7.
