YouTube problems in Chrome

My friend is having problems with YouTube on Chrome. This is what he has said so far "My *beep* laptop had been freezing on YouTube but plays the sound still . Then when I click the page it stops responding" "The sound plays for a while, while he video frozen, but then the video unfreezes and then everything stops". I have already had him 1st. Update Chrome. 2nd. Reinstall it.

spec of laptop? sounds like my 10 year old laptop with its core 2 duo

cpu model

ram amount

and if there are any gpu

                  4GB   Since its that low spec I doubt there is a dedicated GPU

it could be that he is trying to push a resolution higher than the monitor can output.

probably too much background softwares, maybe he can try reformatting it?

@MagnusGrønstad In YouTube I am guessing, since I doubt he knows how to unlock the resolution and for it to be higher

yea, that's what i meant. mine often freezes when i try to do thaT.

@Moonzy reformatting should be the last thing you should do, I don't feel like walking him through that either

then you can try updating whatever driver he needs

4GB of RAM really isn't enough anymore. That aside though, updating Google Chrome hardly ever makes problems go away, instead it brings more with it.

He is running 64 bit 8.1 and all he does it internet stuff so 4GB should be just enough, anyways its 2:30 AM so i will get back with y'all tomorrow(today) how it goes and we can go from there.

You could try disabling chrome hardware acceleration. In chrome, go to settings-> show advanced settings (at the bottom), then scroll to the bottom and un-check 'use hardware acceleration when available'.
