oh oooohhhh, ok overreacted right there. maybe when its booter up press a key (probably f9 for old computers) to 'boot' and chose cd-rom or usb, sometimes its so old the usb looks like this, HDD-USB.

First pick a flavor of linux, i suggest Mint 

Then download the .iso from the website, you probably need 32 bit

then get a 4gb or larger thumb drive 

Use Lili, yumi, or UUI to make the thumb drive bootable with the iso

then plug it into the old pc and boot from usb
