Windows ME

I got an old computer booted up and everything. Sadly I can remember or even guess right what the password would've been. It's Windows ME by the way. Does anyone have any ideas on how to bypass this or anything so I can install Linux?

Might be able to try hirens boot disk on it.

Probably to get some kind of way to hook the old harddrive onto a computer that works.

i know there is a tool somewhere to back it up i just cant remember the name give me a few minutes

Actually no, you could get the files by unpluging the hardrive, hope that its sata or else get some sort of adapter, put it in a new computer, go to disk management, (rightclick start -> computer management -> disk management) then make that hd in a new volume, dont erase it, then you can acess your files?

Windows ME was similar to 98 SE IIRC (I bypassed it, stuck with 98 SE and went straight to XP) so wouldn't that mean the same tricks should work? In 95 and 98 you could simply hit cancel at the password prompt and it would log in with basic user rights but no Admin rights.
