Not worth it imo. Get a cheaper motherboard and replace the graphics card with a 980Ti.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080 12GB + Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VIII Hero

Case: Asus ROG Strix Helios Gundam Edition Power Supply: Asus ROG Thor 850P

When you have a motherboard that's worth more then you're CPU that is a serious NO-NO in my opinion, and having 1600$ to spend and only affording a 970 is pretty dang pathetic.

Heck when your motherboard is the most expensive thing in your build you are seriously doing something wrong, it impacts performance so little, it makes no sense to spend that much.

That makes no sense to go with a $400 board and a GTX 970. I'd wait a month or two for Pascal and then build this system:

This has:

1. Much better gpu most likely

2. Better watercooler for cheaper

3. Better ram

4. The $150 board will still overclock just as well as the $400 one

The i7 6700K has finally fallen in price by the way.
