Good day,

let's suppose I work at two locations regularily.
I use a lot of Adobe Photoshop and Indesign, and very rarely video editing and I need quite large data amounts to always have with me.
I sometimes rely on old, only XP compatible programs.

What kind of setup would you recommend and what specs, to keep it as futureproof as possible (getting the best value)?

I maybe thought of a small (ITX?) case with mid to enthusiast range components and an ssd + 2 hdds in raid 1 for backup, if that would fit into an ITX?

Or maybe 2 mid range PCs and a personal cloud? Or a laptop with external hard drives?

I am curious about your opinion on this topic.

I would go with a poweful laptop and a couple of external hard drive for storage and backup.

A laptop is much easier to move around, but with a desktop you will get much more for your money in terms of performance. What is your budget?

I would say <700€ if that is possible. I certainly could build a really great PC for that money. And I agree laptops are much more practical, but are not as upgradable.

Do you need a monitor, peripharals, OS etc. if you go with a desktop?

No, already got 2 systems at the moment,  but they are pretty old and I am looking to restetting the working infrastucture, to make the workflow more coherent, since I need large amounts of data to be accessible at both places.
