Hey guys!

I found a really old thinkpad, Lenovo laptop in one of my cupboards. I thought that if I clean it up and everything, I can actually sell it for a little bit of money. But when I boot it up, it takes me to the "Windows did not boot up successfully" page. I tried opening Windows up in normal, safe mode etc.. But when I do that, it freezes for 5min then it restarts, and the same issue happens again..

How can I resolve this?

Try:

ESC

F1

F2

F8

F9

F10

F11

F12

I am pretty sure it might be F1

EDIT:

Googled and it looks like some Thinkpads are F2 to access BIOS

reinstall windows?

And I don't have the Windows disk for it.. :(

It is using a 500GB Western Digital hard drive (blue). I took the hard drive out and I thought to myself if I can actually wipe everything on the hard drive and then I can use it as a 3rd hard drive for my gaming PC?

How would I be able to erase everything on the hard drive though?

I think that this PC is using Windows XP or something! xD

xD

anyway you don't need the windows disk

make a bootable flash drive then proceed with the installation like normal, since the activation code is probably tied with the motherboard

If you want to add it to your existing PC, then you can just plug it in then go to: Start > Computer Management > Disk Management > Select the disk you want to clean > Right Click > Format

Follow the Format Wizard that appears. It is fairly simple to follow. This is for Windows 7, 8/8.1 and 10.

Or if you want to install an OS, then it will give the option to clean/format it when installing the new OS.

I actually now want to erase everything on the hard drive (believe it or not, but it is a western digital 500GB blue).. I took it out of the laptop and I want to make it as my third hard drive in my gaming PC. Now I have to find a way to erase the data.

I plugged it into my PC and fired it up. Windows does see it as disk D: but when I click on it, it says "Access Denied."

How do I bypass this?

Did you format it?
