Will it work?

KearneyMC

Im thinking of slowing down my fans by using this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Phobya-Y-Cable-4Pin-PWM-60%C2%A0cm%C2%A0-%C2%A0Black/dp/B0151CQ3WA/ref=sr_1_42?ie=UTF8&qid=1461181894&sr=8-42&keywords=fan+controller

My fans are 3pin and Im using 4fans WIll this power them and Would I be able to control them in the bios?

probably, but with dc control

also, make sure the fans arent sucking too much wattage from the header, or you might burn it

check each fan's maximum wattage, add them up and see what wattage can the particular fan header support, its normally different from the cpu fan header

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

How do I check the wattage of them?

fan wattage is either written on the fan hub, the box, or their website

fan header's wattage should be listen in the motherboard's manual

How about this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005EKU5CO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE#

Would it be better due to being powered by molex

i think it'll only work for pwm fans, yours are 3 pin so you wont be able to control them i think

I use a very small fan controller, I dont have any links or names but can take a picture if you wish. The only reason I have not done it now is because im not in my room.
It has a line in and line out, in addition to two turnable dials
The first dial sets the manual gain, so you can set the speed to exactly as you wish.
The second dial is automatic gain, at 100% on this dial the fan wired to the output matches the input signal, so you can put it to 30% of what the motherboard tells it to be.

Finally it also comes with a detachable thermometer which overrides dial 2, and uses dial 2 for you to adjust the speed curve, this when the thermometer is plugged in increasing dial 2 increases the temp to fan speed ratio.

Let me know if you want a pic of it and hope someone here knows what its called

it'll run your fan at full speed too, since it just splits molex power to your fans without controlling it

i suggest getting a fan controller of some sort, since your fans are 3 pin

fan controllers that support DC control, not PWM

That does not look like it has an input. Controllers like these simply use power from a molex to pin your fans at 100% people use them who dont care about noise and only about running them

Well it looks like it takes a 4pin from your motherboard, so you would need a cable for that if you do not have one.

It could work but honestly I do not know how well 4pin converts to 3pin. Never done it.
