fps drops sli

i have games running fine and then suddenly my fps gets very laggy and cuts in half for a few seconds and then comes ok again and a few mins later this happens again. this can get very annoting, my pc may not be that powerful but it should not be doing this in games like call of duty blops 2 but does it in many other games as well such as far cry 3 ect.

my specs are

asus 550ti superclocked x2 in sli

amd fx 8120 i have used at stock clocks and overclcoked

8 gigs of hyper x 1600 mhz ram

most games running of wd caviar black if not they run off my 830 ssd

asrock 970 extreme 4 mobo

It's called micro-stuttering, it's always present with SLI & Crossfire, you can't do anything about it.

Congratulations, you have just discovered one of the many reasons a single more powerful card is better than several weaker ones in SLI :)

Sell both and get a 7850, it's just as powerful as 2 550 Ti's .

Considering you now know the problem, possibly look at selling your existing cards and purchasing a 670 or 7970. Just an idea..
