2) maybe a larger monitor? personal preference thing

why not buy an intel NUC?

Looks fine to me. Could be worth getting rid of the hard drive and upgrading the SSD instead if not much will be saved.

I didn't consider an Intel NUC, but I guess that is an option. I don't think the monitor size will affect them.
