Hello everyone,

I am building a wooden computer case for my school Major Project, as I built my first computer last year and would like to add more to the computer to give it a more natural aesthetic.

However, I have no clue in how I can create the frontal i/o (usb, audio and power) ports and fit them in to the case. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys.

You could always get an old beat up/junk case and get the USB ports and headphone jack and power switch and just cut holes in your case that are properly sized for these things. Make sure to use something to keep them in there though.

As GR1MES said, find an old case and use what you can out of it.  If needed, you could always buy them:

http://www.amazon.com/Sienoc-Front-Panel-Floppy-Bracket/dp/B00GGFWJWU/ref=pd_sim_147_9?ie=UTF8&dpID=41Ha31L6JYL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0KB7FGQ84544V86AV9K0

http://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Button-Switch-Switches-Computer/dp/B00B2ZBYGG/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1460937395&sr=1-3&keywords=pc+power+switch

I would cut out the entire area for the USB 3.0 ports and set it a millimeter or two off of the case.  Then I would make a much thinner facade to cover everything but the USB ports.

For the button, I think I would find a way to make it wooden as well, to match the case.

Hi,

if you want to go for a professional look, you can use standard D-Norm Neutrik connectors. They are typically used for rackmounting stuff (at least thats what I use them for), but if you have the right surface you can theoretically use them in any way. Please note that there is some soldering action required, since you have to take the connectors from your motherboard, plug some cables in, and solder the other sides to your custom connectors.

Feel free to correct me if those connectors don't work with wood!

Here are some Links:

For multimedia:

For audio:

(you might have to switch to xlr. At least I did)

For Power:

(Powercon is THE standard)

Greetings from Germany,

Chris.
