I use autodesk inventor, it works prettywell for things like this. Google sketchup is an option but its satan to me. Other than that you can try solidworks or just search for CAD programs with free trials or versions.

It varies by person, I've toyed with inventor for six years so I vote for it, but you might just google "best 3d cad for beginners" or whatever. Some people swear by sketch up and its easy to start on, but to accurately model complex things I find it frustrating.

Autodesk inventor has a free 30 trail and a 3 year student option that they dont even bother verifying, but it takes abit to install.
