Maximus 6 formula power consumption

What if I connect only the 8 pin and not connect the 4 pin power connector on the Maximus 6 formula. Will I be able to run the system?

(corsair tx650m psu)

Yes. The additional 4pin is for extreme overclocking, which is impossible with Haswell anyways ^^

I believe the ASUS team at Computex hit a 6.8Ghz O.C.

 

That seems pretty extreme.
