Build Idea! [Revised]

ppppppp

Ok here is my general build idea after listening to some guys on the fourm:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  (£102.00)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  (£38.12 @ More Computers)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£68.90 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£39.84 @ Amazon UK)

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  (Purchased For £62.00)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM (64-bit)  (£22.00)
Monitor: Acer G246HLAbd 60Hz 24.0" Monitor  (Purchased For £118.00)

I got rid of the extra case fans so i could bump the GPU from a 380(XFX or MSI) to a 380X(XFX) I also replaced my MSI h170 Gaming pro with the Asrock K4 since it has more fan headers and stuff and make the transition to K cpu a lot cheaper and easier and it's only £5 more. (Though I'm not 100% sure about this change, as when i do get a K CPU i might wan't a more expensive mobo for better features. Tell me what you think.)

I would have to get a £37 board to afford the cheapest 390 so that's impossible.

I'm sorry but i can't possibly do that.

1.That mobo is a micro white and black board, so that would look awful in my case.

2.Seagate- apparently less reliable

3. Cost a bit more (Not as important)

Seagate are fine
You can paint
290 is around 30-40% faster than a 380X tho :D

1. It's AN ITX and I'm not painting my mobo. Wayyyy to much hassle

2.Its also MUCH hotter, MUCH more power hungry and older. 380X takes advantage of a lot of new stuff.

"Transitioning" to a K series CPU is a stupid idea in my opinion. Unless you need all the extra speed, which requires a Z170 board, faster memory and beefier cooling and power delivery, it's pointless. And even then your return depends on how much you can overclock your CPU, since an unlocked i5-6600K is not clocked significantly higher than a locked i5-6500. And for gaming, an i7 is pointless, unlocked or not.

And if you are getting a locked CPU, why are you picking 2400MHz memory? Your CPU supports 2133MHz memory at most. Pick a 1x8GB kit, so upgrading to 16GB is a lot easier and cheaper.

For a build like this, step up to an R9 390, if you can.

Everything else is fine.

Ok i get your point but I'm not sure how 1x8 makes upgrading easier and cheaper 1x8 and 2x4 cost about the same and it has the dual channel "thing".

And can't i change the ram memory? If so i doesn't really matter.

Tri-X cooler will keep it cool with ease. 290 and 380X are both compatible with all AMD features. Power won't be an issue with that PSU :)

Well I'm expecting you to step down to an H110 or H170 motherboard, and H110 motherboard has 2 RAM slots than 4. That would lock you to 8GB if you went with 2x4GB. So pick higher capacity sticks in the first place.

Also you should know LGA1151 doesn't support quad channel memory, so if you do upgrade to 16GB quad channel using 4x4GB, you'll still be stuck with dual channel speeds.

There is little to no difference running your memory in single channel or dual channel configuration. So just save the money. :D

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/does-dual-channel-memory-make-difference-in-gaming-performance/

Lastly, you can change the sticks as you wish, but why waste money in the first place?

H170 has 4 slots though. I'm not saving any money because they cost the same. The Ram stick is actually cheaper than a lot of others so, I'm not wasting any money so......

They cost the same? The H170 boards might, but this is what I'd pick: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gah110ma

Has two RAM slots, but half the price.

They cost the same? The H170 boards might, but this is what I'd pick: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gah110ma

Has two RAM slots, but half the price.

I meant 2x4 and 1x8 cost the same. Also that gigabyte board.

1. Not available in the UK

2. Micro ATX

3. White and Black

4. Like you said only 2 RAM slots

I think I might go for this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h170agamingpro

or this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-fatal1tyh170performance

Yes, they are more expensive. Because 8GB stick requires denser or bigger chips. And it will ensure future compatibility with a wider set of motherboards, including upto 32GB of VRAM on a quad channel configuration. To reach 32GB with 4GB sticks, you're looking at an octo-channel configuration. And with 8Gb sticks, you're getting 64GB or memory on the same octo-channel configuration. Long story short, 8GB sticks ensures easier future expand-ability.

Here is an identical board for UK, still half the price: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gah110mh

2 RAM slots should be enough. The board supports 32GB of dual channel memory.

But if you're adamant about looks and size, then pick whatever you like.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Having dual channel RAM is irrelevant unless you’re for some reason running on Intel integrated graphics. 4GiB modules, be them DDR3 or DDR4, are a relic of times past.

The logic behind saving money with a single 8GiB module isn’t just in how much they cost up front. If you buy more RAM down the road you won’t be limiting your upgrade capacity with those tiny 4GiB modules – say, on a board that supports 4 slots and 32GiB, a single 8GiB module provides a totally clear upgrade path, whereas having two 4GiB modules means you are limited to 24GiB instead.

Even if you’re not going to use 32GiB of RAM anytime soon, it’s a waste to go with 4GiB modules considering they cost the same, if you ever decide to reuse your RAM, sell the computer, or max out the RAM years from now when the computer is old and grey.

The mobo i want supports 64g though

You need 64 gigs of RAM?
