Hi for some days ago my pc wouldn't connect to my router through my ethernet cable. This are the thing that i have tried.

I changed my ethernet cable to another spot on my router.

I have tried with another cable to se it was the cable that was the problem.

My dad also use ethernet cable on his pc so i checked if he had any connection and he did.

The have bought a whole new Motherboard beacuse i was tinkering with my pc and thought i have touched my mobo with my hand and the static have destroyed it. The new mobo i got is a Asus Z97-C

With the new mobo i couldn't get connection either so i took my pc in to my dads pc and tried with his ethernet cable but didn't work for me. After that i tested his pc agian and it was working on his on.

I then used Cmd and searched for: Ipconfig all.     Pic longer down.

Some other things that may help you with this is i haven't updated my mobo with any kind of Bios etc.Ipconfig.PNG

Thanks

Yeah but that shouldn't be the problem right? And i have never updated my Bios can i just take the newest or do i need to take them in order?

When I builded mine I had to actuaaly physically put the CD into the DVD drive, hte mobo I had (ASUS z170-A) did not have any network driver, or whatever they are called, on the board. So yeah, that might be the issue, try installing the drivers on a USB if you don't have a DVD reader.

I also had to use the good old cd back when i installed my z87-k, ethernet drivers were also not installed by windows so i had to do it myself.

So it's not uncommon you need the cd.

I guess what happened, maybe you old mobo did have network driver pre-installed by windows, at which point you don't need to install them manually. Now the new mobo you got needs to drivers to connect to ze internet, so of course if Windows did not install them your going to need to do it manually.

It uses a different NIC and it's possible that one is included in the windows setup.

I had an old asus P5Q pro and that had also no issues with the ethernet driver.

Different parts need different drivers and if they aren't included you have to do it yourself...

You can add extra drivers to a windows iso if you want but i have no idea how that works.

Motherboards with high end nics will require you to install the driver yourself, also depending on the os, I have a board that the driver will not get installed on 7, but not on 10.

Check in your bios you didn't disable the NIC, IF it was the cable being the issue, the adapter would still appear.

Look through it for something similar to Ethernet controller, or anything with the word nic in it
