So at my school we used to be able to use a browser vpn to bypass the blocks they put in  place on things like facebook.... my question is there something i can do to access blocked websites again with ease? On the wifi you have to log in before it grants you access but not with PC's.

Use your phone or browse at home. Your school has blocks in place for a reason and if they are smart they will block all of the easy methods and adapt their network to other methods as you find them.

Please don't be this person im asking for help around it not someone to tell me don't do it, phones don't work at all because you can't get a vpn on as the wifi will block you out all together... only laptops and pc's work.

You're phone as a cellular connection. so phones do work.

Also you have given 0 technical details so no-one can really answer without making assumptions.

You're asking for help to bypass a security measure for a network you do not own and are not in charge of. I am helping you by keeping you out of trouble. If you honestly think there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you are trying to do then don't post on a forum asking how to do it secretively, go talk to the network admin of your school and talk with them about this and explain your case. They are the only ones who can assist you in a way that does not get you in trouble.

I see you also live in NZ, also I likely used to work for the IT company that manages your school's network up until last year when I changed jobs. Short answer is no there isn't an easy way to get round the blocks, the firewalls we deployed are not your basic things and can detect down to the exact application that is running on the device and can block based on that along with the more simple methods such as traffic type and destination.

The firewall also connects back to an analysis service provided by the vendor to always stay up to date with known category lists etc.

Your school more than likely has a FortiGate 600C and Aruba or Ruckus wireless. Also the internet connections given to schools are monitored and filtered now, called Network for Learning (N4L). This is above and beyond what the local firewall provides and is on the internet connection itself.

The only reliable method is to use 3G/4G hotspot on your phone and leave it in your bag but FYI the wireless system can detect this and flag it as a rogue AP and automatically transmit interference to try and block it. There are two other methods that might work but as I may want to go back and work for them at a later date I won't say what they are, privileged information etc etc.

I know you don't want to hear it but seriously get used to it, this is something your going to have to get used to in the work place and can lose your job over. Personally I don't care if you try and is also what I did when I was at school but it's not the smartest thing to be doing and is not something I will actually help people do.
