MDT Driver issue with Dell optiplex 7040

Remixt

Hey guys. IT professional here! Apparently I'm not professional enough to solve this hair pulling problem.

We(my company) just bought like 10 OptiPlex 7040 machines. We use MDT(Microsoft Development Toolkit) on our own server to deploy Windows 7, 8 and 10 to our workstations as it includes software and security stuff.

Anyway these machines are a nightmare! They don't want to work with MDT. I've tried everything and of course Dell support is shitty as always.

I'm getting the following error when trying to start up the MDT service through our NIC:

"A connection to the deployment share ((\\(company server)\DeploymentShare$) could not be made.

The following networking device did not have a driver installed.

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15B7&SUBSYS_364217AA&REV_31 "

Tools I'm using:

MDT 2013 Update 2 on Windows Server 2012

Things that I've tried so far:

1. Reinstall MDT update 2

2. Download WINPE drivers for dell 7040. (both for windows 7 and windows 10)

3. Update deployment share

4. Downloaded the drivers for the nic directly from Microsoft/Intel

5. All combinations of the first 4 steps.

Any Ideas guys?

  • 2 months later...

You'll need to re-generate your MDT boot media, and make sure the drivers for that new nic are included.
