quad core zeon?

Hi I wanted to know if anyone knew an intel processor,

here are the requirements:

 

Less than $100New/used

4 cores or more

Single core performance

The newer the better

Why do you want a xeon. What socket do you want. If you want lga 771 you can get a quad core for about 20 and you might be able to get one on 1366 for about that much. These aren't any better and a i7 or core 2 quad could be.

Well , there are e5 2670 8 core sandy bridge xeons , but the motherboards are VERY expensive . Otherwise , look at core2 xeons and westmere based xeons. The problem with newer xeons is mostly the cost of the motherboard

are some of them compatible with consumer motherboards

the e5 2670 works on any x79 motherboard. The westmere xeons work on x58 motherboards ( at least the ones designed for lga 1366), and the core 2 xeons for lga 771 can be modded to work on lga 775 motherboards.
