In the $1500 Gaming PC video Linus installs the h100i cpu cooler. He mentions getting an additional y-splitter to hook up one extra fan for corsair link. Can anyone confirm this works and allows me to control all 5 fans? I have read this is a bad idea because the fans wont get enough power and 2 fans will show up as 1 in the corsair link software. Maybe someone can give me some input on this.

Also, just to be sure, the fans need to be PWM for me to be able to control their speed, correct?

No. Fans do not have to be PWM to be controlled. 3 pin fans can be controlled as well, including through Corsair Link. And no, you can use Y splitters. Both fans will continue getting enough power as long as you don't use power sucker fans like Deltas(at least at their maximum RPM).
