Hi All,

I just got my Netgear ReadyNAS 204 set up and I'm starting to move file over to my iSUSI drive.

Previous to this I was getting 110-170 MB/s on my network but when i move a file to my iSUSI drive it starts off at 110-170 MB/s then after a few seconds it drops to 3-8 MB/s.

There is no other traffic at them min on the network any ideas?

Thank in advance!

I've seen something similar to this before and a reply that usually comes up is that it could have something to do with the write time for the drive(s), it might not be able to handle information that fast. What type of drive are you using?

Hi @Howlingwolf101, I have two Western Digital Reds in it.

well, I don't think that should be the problem then. How is it connected? A wired connection will be faster than a wifi connection. Also check what type of connection you have between them, fast ethernet or gigabit ethernet

Excuse my ignorance, but how are were you getting upto 170MB/s? do you have faster than Gigabit network?  I thought theoretical maximum for Gigabit is 125MB/s, I get around 112MB/s max between my NAS and PC on my Gigabit network.. usually between 90-112MB/s.

@Howlingwolf101 its wired with poweline rated up to 500 MB/s and its on the same run of cable as the router witch make the signal better.

@paddy-stone I have a dual gigabit switch on the nas if that possibly makes it better, I dont know to be honest. I would love to be setting on 90-112 MB/s i do work on adobe suit and file size are big so the 3-8 MB/s is killing me.

I think it might be the powerline that's killing it then... I used to have 500Mbps powerline and it was horrible. I recently upgraded to 1200Mbps powerline and now get between those connections approx 750Mbps stable, so works out approx 90MB/s when transferring between those connections. If i'm not using the powerline ie between my NAS and PC it's fully wired Gigabit between the switches and router so that;s why I get between 90-112MB/s. The 1200Mbps powerline I bought was a great investment and I could possible squeeze more out of it TBH, but I really only use that for getting internet access into an awkward part of the house through an access point connected to it, and for my brothers PS4, so don't actually need better speeds at present, so will deal with it when that day comes.. it's only a matter of resetting the powerline pretty much, but they can be finicky at times so would rather leave well enough alone, LOL
