I am building a pc for a friend and need to select a case and psu. He will use this pc for home/office use. I will be using an i5 4670 (non k) and an asus Intel H87I-PLUS Motherboard. I am using M-itx for space saving reasons. The bitfenix prodigy is to wide for this use. I need help with two things. First, what wattage good enough for the cpu 1 hdd, 1 optical drive, cpu and case fan, and possibly a usb card or something in the PCIe slot. Second, what case to go along with this setup, I only need 1 expansion slot, and 1 case fan mount, case bust be black, and as small as possible, integrated psu is okay. Budget is tight so make it as cheap as possible. Please use only tigerdirect.com for this.

cx430M: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx430m

You could run up to a 7870 on it.

Why only tigerdirect?

He is only open to buying from tiger. I need a case more than anything else. I used the psu wattage calculator to get a need of 250 to 300 watt psu.

What wattage calculator did you use? There are many inaccurate ones. Also, they don't calculate your psu wattage--they calculate the wattage you peak at. Those are two different things.

I used this psu wattage calculator, I peaked at around 228 watts.

around 220W will be if you add a gtx 660/7870 with that cpu.in full load.

He is using on board graphics so I think 200-250 watt is good.

I just realized--the cpu is overkill for simple office use. A modern pentium would be better suited.

^ or maybe one of the new haswell i3 CPUs

For a case the Bitfenix Prodigy is allways a sexy safe choice for itx. Other: Cooler Master Elite 120.

He says the Prodigy is to wide, and I was looking at the coolermaster case. Any other Ideas?

@Flyguygamer

Silverstone SUGO

Fractal Design NODE 304

And 5 cases from Lian Li:

PC-V355B

PC-Q18B

PC-351B

PC-Q03B

PC-Q11B

I'm too lazy to link all those. Basically just check Lian Li's website, they have a buttload of ITX cases. But for a tight budget: go with the CM Elite 120

who cares...

The i3 4130 would also be sufficient, as it's basically the same CPU with a slightly lower clock speed. But the 4130 is ~$30-$40 cheaper, if money is an issue. ;)

Multi tasker how? What does he do?

Seriously--tigerdirect doesn't exactly have the best reputation.

He runs 10-20 instances of word/excel, as well as email, and sneaking in games.

I know tiger doesn't have a good reputation, but I can't convince him to change he said tiger only. I don't like it either.

its not the same cpu at all. the i3 is dual core with hyperthreading(4 threads) and the i5 is native quad core.

however for multitasking the i3 is suficient.

The i3 would be plenty. A ssd would be more important than the cpu.

He doesn't trust SSDs despite my encouragement, but I will go the I3 route
