Neither. While the Alienware Alpha isn't bad, the i5 and i7 models are overpriced. You're better off getting the i3 model and a Xeon E3-1231v3 or something that can actually be tamed by the paltry cooling system of the Alpha.

I don't want to doubt you but I do. What he says is true, Alienware is overpriced as garbage. But you don't have to build a PC if that's what you want, there are some retailers that do it for you but I can't tell you since I don't know the area you live in.

What country are we talking here?

Really, getting a PC up and ready and built only takes about an hour to an hour and a half. 45 minutes of those is setting up shit anyways so that really defeats the big selling point of the Alpha.

I actually own an X51 R1, so I have some experience here.

Ideally, neither. Both of these systems packed jamtight with not much airflow. The alpha uses two blower fans for the CPU and GPU. The x51, uses a stock cooler or similar and uses a custom shroud to passively push air out the cooler. The GPU is a ref off the shelf card, but it's pressed right up against an HDD. Space saving yes, cooling not so much. Both systems practically rely on neg air pressure to push air in, but the X51 has a 40mm fan by the logo...

Both systems run off an ext PSU connected to a power board. The PSU isn't upgradable.

If I really had to choose, the x51. I can upgrade a lot more as I can stick in an actual GPU, alpha is soldered. I stuck an SSD in mine too, so there's more upgradability
