Windows 10 : Performance optimization?

Hello people,

I am looking to boost the performace of my pc as much as I can.

I've already disabled superfetch / Windows updates / windows search. I have also disabled all the apps I don't want in task manager > start up.

What else can I do to maximise OS performace? I'm lookingh to do everything possible so tell me everything you know and even give me links to guides if they exist.

[I'm happy to edit reg files etc if needed]

Thank you.

Thank you.

I used CCleaner to uninstall the unnecessary pre installed apps for windows, it also allows you to disable more startup programs than the taskmanager shows you :)

If you are that focused on making your OS more lightweight / less bloated, then why not try Linux?

I'd recommend giving these Linux distros a try -

Linux Mint

Ubuntu

Elementary OS

Solus

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Because Its my main pc and I use it for gaming (Steam) and most of the games I play do not work on Linux or Steam Os, So I'm trying to get the most I can from windows.

Thank you for the reply though :)

To boost performance, Enable: Superfetch, Windows updates, and windows search. Stop disabling things your don't understand, because some idiot says so in some site. Windows already optimizes itself with your system to provide you with the best experience and gives you the most out of your software and games.

If you have an HDD< you can defrag it, or deep defrag it. Deep defragmentation is lengthy process and few software offers this. Deep defragmentation basically not only defrags your drives data, but also sorts it so that what is accessed is one after another, and not all over the HDD. A software I recommend for this is O&O defrag (trial version is fine). The process can easily take 8h, so disable Sleep, and let it run over night, and once done, enable back Sleep.

Be sure to select Complete/ACCESS, menu option under the "Start" button.

Should have mentioned I'm using an SSD.

Thanks for the reply.

Good, then there is nothing else to do. You Overclock your system, but aside from that, there is nothing else. There is no "Turbo" button in Windows, sorry. Trust me, I have done a whole multi-weekend project on this, debunking myths after another. (Windows 7 and up)
