Good day Guys.

I've had my 3470 for over 4 years now, it has served me well and probably is going to continue for a couple more years.

I've seen the video on delidding a cpu that Linus did. My cpu has been running quite hot around 75c at full load in prime 95. I know this temp is still safe but would delidding the cpu and applying new thermal past to the cpu die improve the temps enough to make it worth it. I'm using a corsair h105 cooler in a push pull configuration in the front mounting position on my master case pro 5.

So should i try and delid it or just leave it and stop tinkering with my pc.

meh, 75c is well within the safe range

i wouldnt bother risking my cpu for lowering temps by a bit when it doesnt even matter since you cant OC

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

If ye have cash for a new one in case you fuck up, sure. it would improve temps, but make sure you can afford yo fuck up, if ye can't afford to fuck up, leave it. I'm not saying that you should buy a new cpu first, but make sure you can buy a new on in case you break it

Impressive, considering it came out about 3 years and 10 months ago. ;)

The temperature you're getting is higher than I'd expect, but I wouldn't delid as it's not going to improve anything that matters. You don't get a better overclock, and you don't get better longevity (the risk of ruining the chip is higher than the risk of 75C max load harming it).

75C sounds a bit higher than I'd expect for the CPU and cooling. Maybe as 1st step check everything is clear of dust and possibly redo the thermal compound? Actually just saw the location, what are typical ambient temps?

Winter is starting now so I'll say around 25c. I tinker quite alot with my pc which means a remove my cpu cooler quite often and the temps stay around the same so it let me to believe that is not the problem. Dust might make a difference since the area where I live there is alot of dust but i do clean my pc quite regularly
