Hi.

I just upgraded my PC to be more up to date and i'm running into some problems since my computer won't start.

The screen is all black and no devices plugged in are not showing any light(backlit keyboard and LEDs on my mouse), although i'm able to charge my phone from the USBs.

these are my specs of my computer(bold items are the upgraded ones):

  • ASUS z170 pro gaming motherboard
  • Intel i5-6600k CPU
  • 2x 8gb HX421C14FB/8 DDR4 2133 mhz RAM
  • Gigabyte windforce 3OC GTX 970
  • Corsair power supply 650W
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 500gb

The new ASUS motherboard has a feature on them called Q-LEDs which are used for debugging these kind of instances. There are 4 LEDS each corresponding to a part of the computer.

  • CPU
  • DRAM
  • VGA
  • Boot device

When i power on my computer the CPU LED lights on for a split second. After that the DRAM LEDS lights up for 8 seconds or so. After that nothing happens. It never lights up the VGA or boot device LED.

Here are some things i have tried.

  • Tried using one stick of ram
  • Using different sockets for the RAM
  • Trying without my graphics card
  • removed all connectors except 24 pin for motherboard, 8 pin for CPU, my hard drive and connectors to start the PC(also tried without those to short manually)
  • Removed the battery on the motherboard and reinsert it
  • Removing the hard drive (The boot LED doesn't light up)

I appreciate any ideas.

Thanks :)

EDIT: I contacted to supplier and they took my pc to investigate the matter. I just got it back it turns out it was a faulty motherboard.

did you try inserting one stick of ram into the second slot from the cpu?

did you try waiting for 1 or 2 minutes? your motherboard might be configuring the bios for the new components

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I did do all that. still nothing.

I called the Vendor i bought the motherboard from and he asked me if could come in with my PC. So I guess we'll have to see. Hopefully it's not a bent CPU pin since i was VERY carefully inserting the CPU
