Raid for first build

As long as you buy an expensive high-end motherboard with a good raid controller on it. However, there are some things to keep in mind:

1. Why RAID 1? What "important" data/OS will you be running? Could a cloud service be a better option to store sensitive info?

2.The price. You have to buy two drivers now. Also, a high end motherboard with good raid controller. (Also, going back to Cloud for a cheaper service) (or a dedicated raid controller which are a lot although I think you can get cheap second hand ones but that would be defeating the object of keeping data safe if you buy an old 'used' controller)

If you have the 'cash to splash' then sure! Why not?! It will be fun and you can learn on the way. If you don't really want to spend much then you can use the Cloud (there are many services from which you can choose, a quick Google search should return the best ones) to save all of your sensitive data.

would it be a smart idea for someone of my low skill of building computers to use a raid 1 config in my first build?
