First some backstory: A while back, I had some internet issues. It annoyed me but I didn't see any way to fix it. My internet is usually fast, but on my new PC it's been slow. Anyways, a month or so ago, something happened to my PC. It turned out to be my graphics card, but before I knew that, I reset my computer: I deleted everything and reinstalled. When I got my new graphics card, I used my computer as normal. When I got it, I was very excited. Foolishly I decided to "x" out all the stuff showing, hoping (or expecting) it to show again. I installed some games, played and realized: My internet speed was better again. During the period of me "x-ing" all the things showing, I did so to the windows verifying as well. For some time it said that my windows was fake; or that I had been exposed to false hardware. I didn't really care, but I noticed that my background would reset every time I turned my PC off. I decided to verify windows (in the process, I also updated Chrome and downloaded Microsoft Office), and now I'm back to having poor internet speed. I would really appreciate some help, as slow internet is quite infuriating when I have a good internet. Thanks :D

Use a speed test and your last invoice. What speeds do you pay for (in megabits)? What speeds are you getting on that PC (again, in megabits)? This will help us narrow down some of the issues.

There's a difference between megabits and megabytes. There are also calculators on the internet for finding megabits to megabytes and vice versa. Megabits will typically be written as Mb or Mbit while megabytes will typically be written as MB.

Also, have you updated your network adapter to the latest driver? Open up device manager, then find the network card, and go to the manufacturer's website for your motherboard (or in the case of a discrete network card, the manufacturer of the network card itself) and download the latest drivers.

The stock drivers that Windows uses are generic AF and they don't yield the best performance.

Thank you for your fast response, and sorry for my late. My max internet speed is around 300 megabits up and down (in optimal circumstances, with an ethernet cable), but what I forgot to mention is that I have been using an apple wifi-extender, and a cable through that. Anyways, my internet speed in my room is at best (before I verified windows) 100 megabits up/down. Lately (and before I reset my computer) it's been around 30-50. This is still not bad, which makes me confused as to why in for example the MOBA League Of Legends I have high ping/a bad connection (which I didn't when Windows wasn't verified). As of right now, I am in school and will answer to your last inquiry later. Thanks :D

Search for "Device Manager" in Windows. Find "Network Adapters," and double click on the network adapter for your PC (whether that be Ethernet, or on some motherboards, WiFi). If you have multiple Ethernet ports, select the first one. Double click it, then click on the "Properties" tab. Find the hardware identifier (hardware ID) and do a web search for that. Doesn't make sense? I may be skipping a step (I'm trying to recall from memory) so don't be afraid to comment back.
