First gaming PC

Hi

I want to build a PC for my cousin. It will be his first ever PC for gaming. I don't want to go overboard cuz i don't think that he will need all the cutting edge hardware.

Anyway i alredy got a lead on a cheap GTX 780 and if that doesn't work out i have my own old GTX 770. My prolems begin with the cpu. Can you guys recomend a decent performing cpu i could get fairly cheap.

Im working with a budget of 2000PLN which is about 510USD.

A quad core i5 should do the trick. See if you can pick up a i5 6400.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

If not, a 4460 or 4590. Whichever is cheaper.

Surprisingly enough, the Pentium G3258 is a good choice. It's only dual core (so Far Cry 4 and GTA V won't work on it, but most other games will), it gives up hyper threading, it gives up turbo boost, and it gives up the massive cache that other Haswell chips in it's family enjoy. But durn it, this chip has spunk, and with a little bit of overclocking, you can get this baby to nice new heights (I'm not going to list any specific numbers because silicon lottery and all, but ~4.2GHz-ish). Get a nice Z97 board to go with it, and you have a good build right there.

Not sure if you're willing to buy used, but maybe a second gen i7 (2600, 2600K, 2700, 2700K). They're cheap and you'll DEFINITELY save money on a motherboard
