QSAlpha trying to raise $3.2 million for its super-encrypted Quasar IV superphone

Ethnod

Ok, I really like the idea of an encrypted phone to be honest. The fact that with a reactively cheap piece of hardware and some small know-how I can listen to practically anyone's phone calls (within the area of you that is) is not ideal. However, unless you are talking with an encrypted phone to another encrypted phone... but at least its a start

I have to say, its looking very attractive. I really want an encryption expert to review their encryption tech as I know next to nothing about encryption :)
Specifically regarding the encryption stuff, there is a lot of info, A LOT. If you know anything at all about this read it and report back to us :)
Its looking very nice, although some of the vids show a lot of types of designs so I would want more info but yea, liking it so far

Here is a vid with more info on the phone and its actually quite informative

And here is their "Ninja" design philosophy, pefect for Linus :P

I also spoke to them on their Facebook page as I was interested in a few things myself.

Guys, are voice calls between Quasar IV phones encrypted? And if so, will you be creating an Android/iOS App that will allow Quasar IV users to make encrypted calls to none Quasar IV phone users?

Their reply:
QSAlpha: Quasar to Quasar calls are encrypted. We also have our own QuaStore with Quatrix Apps, this is separate from Google's 'Play'. Developers can use our SDK to create apps, secured with Quatrix, that will one day be included in QuaStore for you to use. So, what you are suggesting will one day be possible

I would like to ask something else also, what about expected battery life? With this new processor of yours and the processing load that encryption puts on hardware, what kind of battery life can we expect from the battery? Are we looking at half a day? A full day or maybe even multiple days?

Their reply:
QSAlpha: Battery Life expectancy should be 18 Hours with normal to heavy usage

I also suggested they look into longer life batteries and also maybe choose a battery that can be upgraded by them or by the user if wanted or needed and they said that they liked the idea.
