I was just wondering if I would be wrong in saying that frequency matters more with APUs, latency matters more for multitasking.

I get this idea because the RAM acts as VRAM for APUs, and with GPUs you always want to overclock the memory frequency for more FPS. And when you're multitasking, let's say you have a 100 tab firefox session, the speed of which you can go between those pages is based on how fast the RAM can be accessed (latency).

Is this right? Can anyone help elaborate what I'm saying?

Yes, AMDs APUs and Intels integraded graphics both gain from faster system memory, as neither have dedicated graphics memory.

Trinity APU benchmark from 2013. As  you can see, there is some diminishing returns. Likely, newer more powerful APUs will benefit greater from even faster DDR4 memory.
