then it would prolly be the stock tim, haven't had time to change it to my MX-4 but anyway so quick recap.

Or the quiet profile that I have set (fans are on 25% till 45°C and at 50% from 60°C.

SP120's Quiet edition on the Rad and AF120's Quiet edition as front intake or are the NZXT stock fans good enough?

I've got 2 stock and 1 af 120 on front

one stock on top

one stock on back

So I know that AF120's are ment for better airflow and SP120's are better on radiators BUT I've been looking at a lot of build on pcpartpicker.

With the following parts:

- Any NZXT H440

- Corsair H100i GTX

And a reasonable amount of builds use Corsair AF120 Quiet edition fans on their H100i GTX so here's my question:

Are AF120's better in the NZXT H440 due to the lack of airflow or should I go for SP120 Quiet edition fans (I might consider Noctua NF-F12 but they are expensive)

For h440 your gonna want staic pressure fans because of the tight enclosure

the AF120 will work much better on the H100i due to the lower fin density than non aio watercoolers...

A bit controversial, there must be a reason to use the AF120's.

@canadiansteve2: Does the H100i GTX also have the lower fin density?

Go for the SP120

AF120 is airflow SP is static pressure...

the use for AF120 is more airflow that have open enclosures like the spec series

I'd stick with SP120's, and that goes double when they're in the top panel of an H440. An AF140 makes sense as an exhaust fan in the back, though.

If you're asking why people on PCPartPicker often use AF120's on radiators, I don't know. Perhaps they know something I don't. But don't just assume that because a lot of people do something, that there's a good justification.

its because of the type of rad they have. for low fpi rads, airflow is better...

Low FPI are made for slow fan speeds...

They don't have the maximum cooling capacity as high fpi

Go with what ever you like the looks of. The difference between the 2 fans is very minimal form 1- 5 degrees difference depending on the use case.

I use AF  fans on my EK block and my CPU  never gets over 65 under full load. Personally I think the Corsair SP fans look ugly so that's why I don't use them. If you want the best cooling performance just get Noctua Fans and be done.

thats true they were made for that but that also means that af works well with them. and yes you are right its less cooling capacity but if cooling was an issue than sp fans are a no brainer.

Is there a difference in looks between the AF120 and SP120? Or only the fan size?

Well cooling is not really an issue I think, when playing games like Black Desert I get like 50-60°C.

My 4790K is running at stock speeds and voltages

Well it might be my voltage and room temp. The stock voltage on my chip is 1.264V and room temp is about 25°C.

Mine is on stock as well, and room temp is around 25c (thz google lol)
