Not sure about the Y700, but I had a Y40 which had all sorts of problems and then died in a year.  Furthermore, I had a few friends with Y50's that complained of similar issues.  I'd honestly avoid the IdeaPad series altogether.

It's solid for the price. Have a Y50 - no major complaints as of yet.
