AMD Driver Install Errors

Hello everyone, I havent been on this forum in a long while, but I want to update my Crimson drivers, and its refusing to start the update. I might know why, but I just want to check with some people first. The two errors are down below.

I think its because I need to uninstall my old drivers, but AMD Radeon Settings itself sometimes doesnt even load.

 

Im running Windows 7 64 bit with an MSI R9 380

My current drivers are 15.30 and I want to update to 16.15

DDU and uninstall Catalyst then install 16.3.2

Yes, you do. 15.30 is Catalyst. 16.13.2 is Crimson

You've messed up something. Use the latest DDU version, remove all drivers and install 16.3.2

Is 15.30 not Crimson? Pretty sure 15.30 was the one with the fan speed locking bug (15.30.1025)

@OP use DDU to uninstall current drivers and reinstall the latest drivers from here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

I had to do the same thing yesterday because my 390 wasn't downclocking it's memory correctly, seemed to work.

Was it? I know 15.12 was still Catalyst. I believe 16.1 was the first proper Crimson. The one with the bug was a leak.

From what I can see AMD's Crimson was released with version 15.30.1025.

IF that's the buggy driver it's the leaked one - Crimson was forced a few days early due to the driver leaking on a few sites

I remember the driver popped up on some random site first, then a few hours later it was uploaded by AMD (slightly altered as the package was larger) and then we had the bug and the hotfix the next day

Known Issues

A small subset of AMD Radeon™ R9 380 users may be experiencing slower than expected fan speeds. A work around is to raise your fan speeds through AMD Overdrive in Radeon™ Settings manually to a desired amount.

 

Fan issues are back in latest beta. Better use the stable drivers.

Im using the stable ones. My fans seem to be fine.

Only a select few 380s. Most are fine
