So there a number of them going around these days, but I'm a huge fan of the PC's built directly into a desk.  And want to design and build my own

Just wondering whats the best way to mount components, Motherboards, PSU's, Hard Drives, etc to a custom build like this?

Thanks

Well do you know some options?

This will be my first custom case, so don't really know the options available.

Plan is for a wooden desk, with gaming rig built in, possibly a NAS aswell as I'm a pretty heavy Plex user.

My only ideas for something like the MoBo, is to either attempt to use standoffs and just put it straight onto the desk, or to find a cheap case and cut it up, so I can use its pieces inside the desk (though worried it might take away from the design, as I want it to be neat and clean, will hardline watercool it, for looks, and hopefully have multiple levels inside the desk so that cables are hidden out of view.

dude, i literally just waved my hands like a lil school girl lol. all of that sounds awesome, and can be done. personally, i was going to do the wooden desk thing myself, but build it from the ground up. there are some good hardware stores out there that sell cheap wood (lol), and are plenty helpful at getting you the rights pieces and fasteners that you will need.

duuude, you could cut out the back side of the case, where you have the standoffs already and use that! you could use the cable management cutouts that are already there, and slide them through a lower level of your custom desk! awesome idea on the mutli level btw.

or even have the board flipped upside down, to where the extended pieces are INSIDE of the case (ie, the gpu and ram and what not), and put your cooling system in there! fans, fans fans! and of course, keep your cpu on a liquid diet of course, if that's your flavor.

you could try using some kind of anti static glass or such, on the cube where the top of the board will be (upside down), and have a cool a** lighting system on the inside!

dude, the list can go on if you want! I'm almost hype enough to start drawing this out!
