Project Cullmination (input requested)

I am on a budget. super strict and not even totally sure if i will have this much to play with. the origional build was going to be capped at about 300 but recently got some good news and i have been nudging some things around to get some extra cash for the project. the current plan is to buy something capable of upgrading later on down the road so this is the build i have come up with so far. give me your thoughts and suggestions. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XyKpdC

So is your budget $300, or $1000?

in any case, here, no need to upgrade really, and if you only have a single 60hz 1080p display, get a 380/X over a 390.

Because it's better overall than a 970, mostly at higher resolutions though

same with the 380 being better than the 960

mostly it comes down to current nvidia cards seemingly lacking DX12 support, and a G-sync display costing you like $150 more at minimum

and ya, don't buy that PSU or SSD, if you're just gaming, just go for an i5 6500 and you'll be set, no need to pay extra for overclocking really for gaming anymore. I just prefer the i7 if it can fit into the budget, means you'd basically never have to swap it out.

380

390, more wins at 1440p + though

I think it looks good.

Do you need a liquid cooler though? You could save some money by buying an air cooler for now then upgrading later. You would still be able to get a decent overclock with a Hyper 212 evo.

I would would swap out the GPU for a R9 380X http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100383ntocl

Its only a little more expensive but you could use the savings from the cooloer if you go that route.

i have never owned an AMD card. so i am apprehensive about getting one as at the current moment ive got a laptop with a GT 630M and it works for everything all the way up to the new fallout. just going from specs and what i have seen of visual representations nvidia is the better card for price point if you dont mind buying a gen or 2 behind.

not really, the 980ti is better than the Fury X if you plan to OC and maybe don't have an ITX build, and the 950 beats the 370, but other than that I'd stick to AMD for DX12 support and cheaper free-sync displays.

like if you play a lot of CS:GO you could easily fit in a 1080p 144hz free-sync display into the budget.
