Windows 10, Default Apps

Go to solution Solved by Huey,

Cheers for the quick replies, but I fixed it by selecting the 'Set Defaults by App' button below, then just selecting chrome, vlc etc.

Gday everyone, just decided to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10 pro. Spent the first hour googling basic stuff aha, well I got chrome and went to set it as default program and it just does not want to select what I want. see this gif. https://gyazo.com/a5411a57888cc159a15daafb9a658a86

It could be one of Windows 10 bugs which they haven't ironed out yet. Try creating a new user with the same rights as you i.e. administrator. Try setting the default programs like you did before with this new user to see if the problem is gone.

I've had similar profile problems like the icons appearing white (new installation) or the start menu not working (after restoring Windows 10 pro from an Acronis image with SID change and Universal restore).

The new profile worked for me.

I was having some issues with the white icons aswell, and sometimes my desktop would just not work but everything else work fine. debating going back to windows 7 now :/
