what would you guys suggest for a future upgrade? i currently use the amd 8350 , its running ok but i used to run a 4.5 modest overclock with a little added voltage and it ran stable just fine, one day it stopped posting it wouldnt even load the bios. the solution was to reset the cmos on it and its been running just fine, i saw linus's 4k build and i was amazed my build is a 8350 with a gtx 970 and a 700 watt psu i have trouble even gaming at 1080 i play a larger amount of league when you first load in i get 300 fps then as the game goes on around 15 minutes the fps is around 80 then in team fights it can even be as low as 5 , 5 whole frames . also i have problems in any open world game the video cut scenes will actually have a large amount of screen tearing and the voice will unsync , i have replaced the ram with 2100mhz kingston ram i have a 120 gb ssd a 1 tb and a slower 2tb , i run league off of the ssd and all other games off the 1 tb , would it be worth my time to attempt to fix the amd or jump on the new intel skylake , any help is appreciated , thanks in advanced

You already did a clean windows install? Did you resetted ur whole bios? What Motherboard do you have? What are ur load temps on both, the graphicscard and the cpu?

Windows was cleanly installed not recently but after the overclock troubles , and yeah when you pull the cmos it resets everything. I have the Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 , at the moment my cpu on a stress test hit's about 140f and gpu 160f sorry I am American and we use the customary system

cpu is too hot. max for FX-8350 is 61c, which is about 141.8f. when you throw in variances between individual cpus, and how long you ran a OC for, it's currently overheating just at stock, most likely why you can't get to it to post at all. What cooler you using? What do you use to stress your CPU? do you have a spare (doesn't matter if it's old) CPU on the AM3+ socket you can throw into your board?

if your board checks out, it's the CPU. personally, i'd then jump to the blue side, the AM3+ is dying out and the only "upgraded" you can make is a pre-overclocked fx-8350 rebranded as a fx-9590.

hell, you look at some benchmarks online, sometimes a skylake i3 can due better then the fx-8350.

sources: i myself have a fx-8350 and ran into issues with my computer suddenly saying, "YO THIS 4.6GHZ OC WON'T GO." so i've spent way too much time looking into the CPU.

That is logical, because at 4K the cpu doesnt realy matter much anymore.

GTX970 at 1080p, is allot more powerfull, and push out allot more frames.

And there for you need more cpu horse power, or lets say per core performance to feed the card.

At 4K the GTX970 is basicly realy weak, and the FX cpu will have no single issue keeping up with it.

Or in other words at 4K you are basicly mainly GPU bound.

This might change in the future wenn we see some more powerfull gpu´s for 4k.

Really I thought it was 100 c ? I use a Evo 212 , it's pull only I thought originally it might of been that or cpu related I reset it applyed thermal compound with the line method as linus does it not too much I have taken it here coolers off and it fully covers the cpu , how is it overheating with a 4 heat pipe cooler I have 100cfm fans blowing air in the case the cpu has a 80cfm but mega high static pressure fan on it I don't currently have a processor around , also I am not having any thermal throttling , if I were to upgrade to Intel where would I even begin I would have to dish out for a mono and I don't even know which i5 or i7 or even the xeon e3 thing people were doing , is my amd chip just a bad chip ?

OK but In the video they used a 6300 and a r9 285 , using a 8350 is much more powerful then the 6300 and not entirely sure but my 970 is stronger then the 285 the only draw is the smaller buss bandwidth and the 3.5 vram issue , it's perplexing as to why my rig which trumps that rig can't even complety game at 1080 near as good as that rig at 4k

100°C is for intel cpu´s, which are totaly diffrent.

TJ max of FX cpu´s sit arround 62°C / 65°C.

Man I feel like I should go to jail for destroying my cpu man I have rendered literally 100 videos with it sitting at 140 to 148 f for hours on end

Also, the FX8350 isnt that much more powerfull then a FX6300 wenn it comes to gaming.

It highly depends from game to game.

But allot of the games dont realy use more then 4 main threads.

There are a very few games that have a decent scaling over all availeble cores / threads of an i7 or FX83xx like Fallout4 and Watchdogs for example.

If you know how and can tweak a config file of a game.

You basicly could squeeze a littlebit more performance out of cpu demending games on a FX8 core.

All you need to do, is tell the game which particular cores it should use.

Not sure if you can do this with all games, but with some you can.

The FX83xx cpu´s have 4 modules with each 2 integer processing cores sharing cach and fpu.

Both of those cores have their own fpp and there for, they basicly can execute 2 threads simultanously, since you have 4 modules with each 2 integer cores, AMD basicly says that its an 8 cores / 8 threaded processor.

But you only have 4 256bit fpu´s.

So they are basicly not 8 individual standalone cores, like the i7-5960X for example.

So since everyone is faceplaming right now because I cooked my lovely processor to near death , and am3 is going out of phase should I wait for am4 and the new zen processor or go intel ? If I go intel what processor should I even get

go Intel, either way you're getting a new board and CPU, plus AMD is kinda just...meh, now. BUT, I would wait till we see some performance for Zen, because who knows they might be amazing.
