Depends on the cpu and chip you get.

CPU lifespan will only decrease if it runs very hot and each CPU has its Tj max that you should watch closely.

On a 3570k getting 70-80 temps on P95 is the max youd wanna go. 85-90 is pushing it too far already.

You definetly dont wanna overvolt your CPU unnecessarily so yeah, read reviews and guides and good luck!

It can shorten the life - so be careful. Every CPU has different operating temperatures, so take a look at the Intel or AMD website to see, or post your CPU here and another user or myself will find out what it is.

Make sure you have sufficient cooling, and good fans. Linus' youtube channel has tons of great coolers, and recently some videos about performance.

This video covers a lot of that stuff.
